Indie Filmmaker Richardson Shares 6 Tips on How to Succeed as An Entrepreneur

Follow your passion and the money will come is the motto independent producer and filmmaker Ramon Richardson lives by.  Richardson become an active player on the New Hollywood production circuit of the films not made or released by a major studio.  Richardson is one of a growing number of independent filmmakers making their mark in the industry and he is quickly moving up the ranks as a major force to be reckoned with.   To this end, he shares 6 tips to help entrepreneurs on the road to success.

Tip 1

Find out what your weaknesses are and turn them into strengths.   

Richardson is from St. Croix US Virginia Island and his company, Admirals Pavilion Motion Picture Production Company which started in 2006 is creating its own brand of Box Office hits, changing the way movie lovers look at true entertainment.

Tip 2

Always have the mission of your organization in mind. 

The last decade has experienced a growing body of feature films by major players in the industry.  But, of that number nearly 94.3 percent were independent films.  

His desire to take a leap of faith and chart his own course in becoming his own boss is the driving force behind Richardson’s desire to move forward in this entrepreneurial pursuit.  

Tip 3

Training is important as new methods of operation within your field may be available. 

He said, “Reading a Bible passage in the book of James is what started my filmmaking career and enjoying all aspects of it is what keeps my motivation to continue going.” Since then, Richardson admits his passion has only grown stronger over the years.

Tip 4

Entrepreneurship is like football, but you should always be on offense.  

Richardson offers some sound advice to fellow dreamers.  “Follow it if it’s your passion. It feels good to have a job or run a business that you personally enjoy doing.  Because it wouldn’t feel like work and any natural problematic issues will be handled accordingly with less stress.”

Tip 5 

Lead the way but don’t forget there is no I in team.

He went on the say, “Over the years I have produced more than 170 productions that I have released in the film industry and you can even get intro information to my Virgin Island culture through my films.”

Tell me a little bit about your background and how you ended up choosing your field.What made you take the leap into entrepreneurship?

This is probably one of my favorite questions of all in an interview, because you get to dive into the story and the deeper purpose on how you got to where you are now. Let me start off by introducing myself, I am Anja Randgaard a strategy and empowerment coach.

I empower ambitious entrepreneurs to scale their businesses to consistent $5K+ and beyond by creating a simple and easy step by step strategy for their business. Being certified in different fields including life coaching, social media management, NLP, and more. I have worked with entrepreneurs to step into the next level of confidence and fulfill the freedom lifestyle they desire by creating the impact and income they are looking for.

My mission is to empower entrepreneurs to level up their life and business to become the next wave of unstoppable entrepreneurs.

I’ve always followed my passions and had big dreams despite the challenges that has been thrown my way. After finishing high school, I moved to Australia and worked there with a international school for almost 4 years, where I got to coach and mentor women in finding their soul purpose. Later I was able to develop my own school curriculum where I got the true taste of what entrepreneurship would look like. It was not long after that I realized that my passion was to connect entrepreneurs to their most powerful selves and create the life and business of their desire.

I went from barely being able to do anything, doubting I would be able to finish school to signing 15 clients my first couple of months in business. So far this year I have helped close to 100 women start, grow and scale their online business, I’ve been featured in multiple podcasts and summits and my business is thriving more than ever.

What are 3 tips you can share with our readers as it relates to your industry?

First, if you want to make massive cash and impact with your business, you need to invest in yourself and your business. I see so many business owners scared to invest in their business, and I get it I do.

But here is the deal, when we get to spend time doing what our zone of genius is we get to generate more cash. So weather that looks like investing in a VA, coaching, or other services do it! So you can spend time doing what you’re good at .

Second, be crystal clear! This is a must, get crystal clear on what you want to do, who you want to serve and WHAT you want to offer your clients. When you know your products and you’re clients it’s easy to sell and create strategies. The number one mistake I see people do is having to many strategies at once because they are not clear on what, who and how.

And lastly would be to take massive action! If you want to see massive results you need to start stepping out in what you already know. The faster you start taking massive messy actions you and your business will grow tremendously. Because it’s not about how many times we fail it’s about the times we succeeded.

How do you personally define success? What does it mean to you?

This is a good question; I believe success if the result of the goal that we have set for a time. Success is something dynamic that will change as we grow and our business grow.

So for me at this moment success would be for me to have helped 10 entrepreneurs to increase their income to $5K+ months this year.

How do you differentiate yourself from others in your field?

I believe the number one reason I differentiate myself from others is because I don’t only coach but I also consult my clients to achieve their goal. I love being hands on and I’m deeply invested in all my clients and their success.

One of my clients even said to me that she thinks that I believe more in what she was doing than herself at that time. I’m deeply passionate, highly skilled and will be there every step of the way with you.

An Exclusive Interview With Jennifer Hickerson, CEO of Peak Copywriting

1.  Tell me a little bit about your background and how you ended up choosing your field.

Ever since I was little, I dreamed about becoming a CSI — mostly due to the unrealistic TV expectations. I even went on to complete 9 years of University studying to become a hotshot in that field. 

Through personal trials and struggles, I became more and more enamored with the healthcare industry. My passion for medicine became so strong that I stopped pursuing work in criminal justice altogether and began seeking out healthcare opportunities in order to learn and grow in that workspace.

And, as much as I loved working in different medical arenas, I discovered throughout my career that what I enjoyed most was the writing. I found myself completing the “boring” paperwork three times faster than my work colleagues. From the terminology, to the wording, and on through to the editing — I found it fascinating!

2. What made you take the leap into entrepreneurship?

Back in 2017, I moved to a different state. I went from living and working in an area with little to no opportunities to a place with an overabundance of opportunity. I took for granted my ability to get a job willy-nilly and relocated without a one in place.

Unfortunately, I struggled. I had a hard time even landing an interview. I wound up desperate and ultimately decided to start my own business — a medical copywriting business.

At the time I was scared and felt pushed into doing something I really didn’t want to do but it wound up being the best decision I could have ever made.

3. What were the biggest initial hurdles encountered and how did you overcome them?

Since I was unemployed for quite some time after moving, I was struggling with finances.

But, I was pushed into a corner. It was a do or die situation. I created more debt for myself by investing in start-up costs — including copywriting courses — and watched my credit card bill reach $10,000.

But, thankfully, those courses taught me tremendous skill in both writing and bringing in clients. If it weren’t for that temporary loss in funds, I would have never been able to gain the ability to pay off my debt and successfully work for myself.

4. What are 3 tips you can share with our readers as it relates to your industry?

First, you have to lose money to make money. Whether it’s to further your education or buying software — if you’re unwilling to invest in your business, you’re going to struggle to keep up with your competition.

Second, you need to continue learning. From SEO, to content marketing, to social media — everything is always changing. Algorithms are constantly shifting and new trends are popping up daily. Find trusted sources and take time out of your week to research.

And lastly, a strong social media presence is a must. Find the platform(s) your ideal client hangs out on and invest time in becoming a strong, respected voice where they’re at.

5. How do you differentiate yourself from others in your field?

I believe most of us differentiate ourselves by the niches we choose. We each have our own writing styles, personalities, and tones we incorporate into all of our pieces. 

Writing under the guise of doctors, my writing style is made to be compassionate and very thorough. The amount of market research I do for each piece is invaluable to my clients and it shows from the success of each project.
